On the definition of medium-term priority areas of innovation activity at the sectoral level for the years 2017–2021

The Government detailed 8 medium-term priority directions of innovation activity of the national level for the years 2017–2021 on October 23, 2017. The resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers on October 18, 2017.
In particular, among directions:

  • development of new technologies for the high-tech development of the transport system, rocket and space industry, aircraft and ship construction, armament and military equipment;
  • development of modern information and communication technologies, robotics.

Medium-term priority directions of innovation activity of the national level for the years 2017–2021 were approved by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on December 28, 2016.

Meeting of Space Research Council of NAS of Ukraine

Meeting of Space Research Council of NAS of Ukraine on the priorities and preparation of the concept of the National Program for Space Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine for the years 2018-2022 was held on September 20, 2017. Also it was discussed the creation and operation of the Ukrainian Space Weather Center (joint center of National Center of Space Facilities Control and Test of SSAU and SRI NASU-SSAU). As a result of the meeting, it was decided to approve the draft Concept of the National Program for Space Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, as well as the initiative on creation the Ukrainian Space Weather Center.

17th Ukrainian Conference on Space Research

17th Ukrainian Conference on Space Research, organized by the Space Research Institute, was held in Odessa on August 21-25. Current conference was attended by 170 representatives from 68 organizations of Ukraine and 9 organizations from other countries (Belarus, Poland, Israel, Georgia, Russia, Egypt).

Representatives of the Institute visited Palma de Mallorca to attend the summer school on space weather

Representatives of the Institute (Head of the Department V. Yatsenko, graduate students D. Vlasov and S. Ivanov) visited Palma de Mallorca to attend the summer school on space weather during July 25–29, 2017. Lectures on new methods for forecasting space weather, software and numerical results were presented. Prof. V. Yatsenko presented a report for students and postgraduates about the new methods, developed in the Space Research Institute. Issues of cooperation with foreign scientists were discussed during the meetings.

Meeting of representatives of the Ukrainian space industry with colleagues from the Center for Space Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Polish Space Agency POLSA

Meeting of representatives of the Ukrainian space industry with colleagues from the Space Research Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Polish Space Agency POLSA was held in Warsaw on June 13, 2017. Composition of the Ukrainian delegation was:

  • G. Danishevskii, Head of the Department of the State Space Agency of Ukraine
  • V. Masley, Chief Designer of Yuzhnoye State Design Office
  • Y. Shovkoplyas, Deputy Chief Designer of Yuzhnoye State Design Office
  • G. Lizunov, Head of Laboratory of the Space Research Institute
  • V. Korepanov, Deputy Director of the Lviv Center for Space Research Institute.

The parties discussed the prospects for the implementation of joint space projects and the preparations for the launch of the Ukrainian satellite "Microsat-M". The composition of the payload of this satellite includes the Polish device "Spectrum Analyzer RFA".
