The project aims to provide accurate and timely data on forests in Europe in accordance with the Regulation on the monitoring system of sustainable European forests, proposed in November 2023 by the European Commission. Project implementers will cooperate with Copernicus authorized organizations and national institutions to jointly assess the needs arising from the Regulation. The project will also contribute to the adoption of EU forest legislation in Ukraine. The FUTUREFOR project involves research and workflows to explore the possibilities and limitations of Copernicus-based datasets.

Space activity in Ukraine has been discussed at a meeting of Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Development
January 15, 2025 at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Development considered the state and prospects of space activities in our country. Heard short reports deputy Minister of Defense K. Chernogorenko, deputy. Minister of the Ministry of Strategic Industries D. Grishchak, Acting Chairman of the SSAU V. Mikheev. On behalf of the initiative group for the analysis of space activities, a report on the preparation of the Conceptual Foundations of State Policy in the Field of Space Activities of Ukraine was made by О. Fedorov. The resolution on the results of the discussion formulated a number of proposals and recommendations for specific organizational measures.
Meeting of SRI Scientific Council
On December 24, 2024, a meeting of the Academic Council of the Institute was held, which considered the results of work on research topics that ended in 2024:1) Scientific and technical work "METHODOLOGY FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES BASED ON SATELLITE DATA AND ESSENTIAL VARIABLES" under an agreement with the Ministry of Education and Science (O. Fedorov); 2) 1 stage of scientific and technical work under a contracts with the National Antarctic Center (A. Fedorenko, O.Parnowsky). The problematic issues of the Institute's activity in 2025, as well as the personnel issue, are also considered. Preparation of a conceptual document on space activities of Ukraine
The initiative working group on the analysis of space activities, created by the decision of the Cosmos Association, the Space Research Council of the NAS of Ukraine and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Economic Development (coordinator O.P. Fedorov), prepared a draft of the Conceptual Foundations of State Policy in the Field of Space Activities of Ukraine. President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Academician A. Zagorodniy sent a draft of this document to Prime Minister of Ukraine D. Shmyhal, with a request to give instructions for the development of a set of priority measures for the restoration and development of space activities in Ukraine (the text is attached).
Meeting of SRI Scientific Council
On November 28, 2024, an expanded meeting of SRI Scientific Council was held, which considered the results of the current work of the Institute and the upcoming events of 2025: certification of employees, state certification of the Institute, preparation of an annual report on scientific and scientific-organizational activities in 2024. The scientific report of B. Yaylimov "On the results of the implementation of the 1st stage of the project" Information technology of remote monitoring of the ecological state of the land cover in the occupied territories "was heard.
