17th Ukrainian Conference on Space Research

17th Ukrainian Conference on Space Research, organized by the Space Research Institute, was held in Odessa on August 21-25. Current conference was attended by 170 representatives from 68 organizations of Ukraine and 9 organizations from other countries (Belarus, Poland, Israel, Georgia, Russia, Egypt).

Reports from leading scientists and representatives of the space industry were presented at the Conference. Work in the Conference’s sections was devoted to the actual topics of Near Space Study, the Moon, Ground-based Radiophysical Space research, Space Biology, the development of instrumentation, materials and technologies for space exploration, spacecraft and systems and Earth Observation from Space.

Round table discussions on perspective studies of the Moon, as well as a meeting of the Educational Forum were held. The winners of the competitions of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine with prospective research projects presented reports at a special session. A characteristic feature of the Odessa conference was the active participation of young people both from academic institutions and universities, and from enterprises of space sector (Yuzhnoye State Design Office, Special Device Production State Enterprise ARSENAL).
