Corresponding member of NAS of Ukraine Oleg Fedorov was unanimously elected the director of the Institute by secret ballot, which was held on April 4 at the meeting of Institute's scientists.

Under the terms of competition for filling posts of heads of NASU’s institutions and the Order number 5/1 from February 2, 2017 the elections of Director of the Institute will held on April 4, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Space Research Institute of NASU-SSAU. The meeting of the Council on Space Research of NAS of Ukraine was held on March 22, 2017. The Council discussed the concept, objectives and activities of the National Space Program of Ukraine for the years 2018–2022.  It was decided to consider it appropriate to present the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine the draft Concept of scientific and technical space program of Ukraine for the years 2018-2022. It was approved the new composition of the Ukrainian National Committee of COSPAR.

На Конференції (http://space-conf.ikd.kiev.ua/conference/info), Секція 8 (Перспективні розробки та ідеї космічних місій) передбачається заслуховування доповідей переможців конкурсів перспективних проектів. Згідно з рішенням РКД НАН України, розпочато організацію КОНКУРСУ №1 інноваційних ідей та проектів для перспективних космічних місій від молодіжних творчих груп. Крім того, за ініціативою ДП «КБ «Південне» та ІКД розпочато організацію КОНКУРСУ №2 ідей щодо корисного навантаження на платформу YuzhSat.
